Cute Quips.

Last night as Sam was praying he said "Please help the school to be destroyed before tomorrow."  Daniel started laughing.  So Sam stopped and asked why he was laughing at him.  Daniel said the school will not be destroyed and he needed ask for help in a different way.  So Sam went back to his prayer and said, "Please help the school to be destroyed before tomorrow.  Or that I'll have a good day."

It was a good day.

Cute Quips.

So we were sitting on the couch watching a fascinating episode of Mythbusters and Daniel was running his hand around my ankle and I advised him that I haven't shaved my legs in a while to which Sam came in the room and said,

"Uh, So we have a hobbit in our family?"

Funny.

And not quite THAT hairy!

Cute Quips

Ruthann asked if they (the kids) can have our house when we die.  Because Daniel and I may die at any time.  She asks this quite a bit.  So I always remind her that she will have her own house and they can sell this one or do whatever they want.  So, again, "Can we have this house when you and dad die?"

Sam then comes in and says this...

"No!  It will smell like old people!"

Hardee har har....

Cute Quips.

We had just gotten home from a long camping/family reunion weekend.  I was getting ready to dry Ruthie's hair after long hot showers.  I told her to hurry and finish brushing it out.  She then said this...

"Mom! We do things so different now compared to when you were a kid!"

I have no idea what they do differently.  But got a good laugh out of it.

Cute Quips.

I had put a collection of little boy halloween costumes into individual sacks and then all of them into a large garbage bag. I'm taking them to my mom's tomorrow to show to my sister in law so she can see if she wants them for her cute little Joshey. I put that bag in the laundry room so it would be easy to grab on our way out tomorrow.

I also got the trash completely full and took it out of the can and set the large trash bag in the laundry room so it would be easy to grab on our way out tomorrow.

I began getting things put together for tomorrow and noticed that both large trash bags were gone! GONE! I yelled to Daniel! Daniel! Did you take both trash bags out to the trash?? Yes. (Proud of the fact that he had taken it out!) I told him he took costumes out and needed to go get it out of the garbage and back in the laundry room. He rolled his eyes and got it. Then he pointed out that it looks like trash and he always takes out the trash when it sits in the laundry room. Point taken. But one bag was obviously not trash! It was costumes in little individual gracery bags inside the large trash bag. DUH! Not Trash!

We discussed this little tidbit for a while. Joshing each other and flirting with each other. Then Isaac came up with a brilliant idea...

"Why don't you put a "T" for Trash on the bags with trash in them and "NT" for Not Trash on the other bags. Then you'll always know which is trash."

Now that sounds like a solution to me!

Cute Quips.

First, a Cute Quip...

Isaac: "Sam. Have you ever blinked your eyes at night when you're in bed and when you opened your eyes it's morning?"

Sam: (Giggling) "Yeah! I just had that happen last night!"

That little exchange tickled my funny bone just right. Man, they make me laugh.

Second, my Cute family...
And I haven't had a chance to sit and really think and process the whole Disneyland trip to be able to blog it yet. I have been doing laundry for 2 straight days and finally have some milk and bread in the house again. I feel like I have jetlag. And it was only an hour time difference. But I can give you a little hint as to how it all went...

FUN!!

EXCITING!!

WE WANT TO GO BACK!!

4 DAY PASSES NEXT TIME!!

SCHOOL AND WORK ARE SUCH A BORE!!

Luckily no one broke into our home while we were away. So no one really got to enjoy the cleanliness while we were gone. Although I did enjoy it for a few moments right after we walked in the door.

Cute Quips.

Last night we were on our way out of Pack meeting. Well. Let me rephrase that. My family went out to the car and I was talking in the church. They finally put a movie on because I was talking for a while. When I got to the car they were watching Nacho Libre. As we drove home, home is only 2 minutes away, they continued to watch. If you've never seen the movie, Nacho is a monk and they talk about Heavenly Father and baptism. Ruthie says...

"This is such a great movie. It's funny and it's gospel!"

Daniel and I laughed the last 30 seconds home!

Cute Quips.

Last night I was cuddling with Ruthie before bed and this is how the conversation went:

Ruthie: "Mom. Do you snore?"

Me: "No. Do you?"

Ruthie: Laughing..."Nooo. I don't even know how to snore!"

Still makes me laugh.

Cute Quips.

Here's another one...

Every morning before school and every afternoon after school Isaac goes out to check on the goats. The kids are due next month so he wants to make sure they are okay. The rule is this...he has to go down to the basement and put his goat poop laden boots on and then go out the basement door, then come back in that door and leave his goat poop laden boots down there. When he goes out, if it's not hay feeding day, he'll give them some goat feed. The problem lately is that he hasn't closed the basement door tightly. It gets cold in the house!

So Daniel went down last night to check the door, which was closed and locked. He could hear one of the goats right outside the door. So he opened it and there was Oreo. She had to have a motive for going down the treacherous steps to stand in front of a door at 10 pm when she knows full well Isaac doesn't come out at night.

This morning I told Isaac that when dad went to check the door, Oreo was there waiting for him.
(I know that was a hugely long set up, but it's just so you know...)

Isaac said: "Oreo was just waiting for the man with the black sweatshirt and jeans and blue boots to come out and give her some feed. She doesn't understand that the man was in bed."

The Man?? Oh, he cracks me up!!

Cute Quips.

Ruthann and I were in the car and listening to the radio. A song came on. Stayin' Alive. By the Bee Gees.

Ruthie says: "Oh. It's....the.........Chipmunks?"

I say: "No. This is the Bee Gees."

Ruthie says: "Hm. They sound like the Chipmunks. How do they do that?"

I say, while laughing: "That's what their voices sound like."

Ruthie says: "That's weird."

Cute Quips.

On our way home from our last day of summer lunch celebration, we talked about the cars we are looking at. We will be replacing the van asap. I'll explain later.

So we are talking about where everyone will sit and the subject of new baby comes up. Sam and Ruthie then go into this whole conversation...

Sam: "Mom, you could be pregnant and have a baby."

Me: "I would die. I can't be pregnant."

Ruthie: "It could be an accident. Oops."

Me: Laughing hysterically!

Sam: "Well what if you were pregnant and Heavenly Father made it so you didn't die."

Me: "That would be a miracle, wouldn't it? But I don't think I will be pregnant again. How about if our next baby comes to us through adoption?"

The Kids: "Okay. The baby can sit....." then a whole bunch of answers like "by me" "in the middle" "over here" Etc.

Then later in the day, I was showing pictures of the car Daniel will look at tomorrow and Isaac suggests this...

Isaac: "I know. We can pay $100 in tithing in one week and then you could have a baby and not die."

Me: a little choked up..."Well, that would show a lot of faith, wouldn't it?"

Me: I tell Daniel what Isaac just suggested...

Me: "We show our faith by paying our tithing all the time. What else could we do to show our faith?"

Daniel: "What if we fast and pray?"

Isaac: "Okay. But if we pay a lot of tithing, we might get our baby."

And that's what went on in our family today.

My faith just grew a hundred fold. I might be able to move a mountain soon.

Cute Quips.

I send a Slim Fast drink in Daniel's lunch bag each day to work so he can drink that in the morning to hold him over to lunch. The kids call it dad's chocolate milk.

The other day I told the kids to get some breakfast and then get dressed and brush teeth so we could get our day going. I walked out to the kitchen to make sure they were eating. This is what I saw... This is what I heard...

Ruthie: "That's what you're eating for breakfast?"

Sam: "What? Dad has chocolate milk for breakfast!"

So true. So funny. I still laugh when I think about it!

Cute Quips.

This is a conversation at dinner last night...

Sam: "Not everyone is human. You start out as small as a germ. Then you grow into a baby. Then you grow into a toddler. Then you grow into a teenager. Then you grow into a human being. Then you grow into a mom or dad. "

Me: "Oh! So I'm a human being? "

Sam: "Yes. But we (referring to himself and his siblings) aren't human beings yet. But we will be when we're adults....And we're still germs, too."

.....Hmmm. It all makes sense now!

Cute Quips.

One night this week I was laying in bed with Sam. I like to lay down with Sam and Ruthie every night while Daniel reads to them. It's cuddly fun.

As we were laying there, Sam asked if I was asleep. So I snored. Then this happened...

"Mom, guess what?"

"What?"

"You snore."

"That was just fake snoring."

"No. One night I came into your room while you were asleep and I could hear you snoring."

"You did? What did it sound like?"

"Like this...*insert heavy breathing*"

"Oooh. Did dad hear it?"

"No he was asleep."

"Shh. Don't tell dad that I snore."

"*Giggle* Okay."

"Thank you."

"I won't ever tell him..."

It's nice to keep some secrets from dad. So now that I've shared that with you, please don't tell Daniel that I snore! I really don't want him to find out!

Cute Quips.

So last night after getting kids to bed, Daniel and I were in our room just sitting and talking. Talking about sleep and babies. Then Isaac came in and asked what we were talking about. We told him we were talking about when we have a baby that we will have to get up to feed a bottle to the baby. I then told him about when he was a baby and that sometimes I was so tired that dad would bump me and say, "Jennie, your baby needs you." If I didn't get up, he would go get Isaac and bring him to me and say, "Jennie, your baby needs you."

Isaac: "Why did I need you?"

Mom: "Because I was the only one who could feed you."

Isaac: "Why?"

Mom: "Well, because when you were a little baby I was the one who had...."

Isaac: "Ooooooohhhhh. Don't say it. I know! I think we all know what you are going to say. Don't say it! I know!"

He took a gander down me and then crossed his eyes in embarrassment.

Daniel and I laughed about that one for a while!

Funny guy!

Cute Quips

Yesterday after school, Ruthie was looking at her cookies from the cookie party Sunday night. She picked up this little heart cookie and said, "Mommy, take a picture of me and my cookie." So I did. Then she said, "Now you can put it on your blog!" So here it is.

Last night at dinner, Ruthie wanted seconds and when I put the food on her plate she said, "Thanks mom. You're a light saber."
This morning, Ruthie asked if she could watch Madeline. As I was putting it in, she said she wants to have an orphanage someday. She wants to have lots of babies who she will feed, and dress and play with. Then their mommies and daddies can come and get them. This is a drawing of what her orphanage will look like. It will have enough rooms for 6 babies, an office for her to do her orphanage work and a big play room. The lines going to each window are stairs that lead to the babies' rooms. The middle window is her office. I love the large flowers and the bright sun! Her orphanage will be a happy place!

Cute Quips.

Every prayer we say, we pray that our baby will come soon and that our birthmom will find us. With that in mind, we left for school this morning. Sam was asking about when each of us was born. Ruthie was born in the Autumn, Isaac and Sam were born in the Spring, Mom was born in the Winter and dad was born in the Summer. Ruthie's Chinese name is Autumn Thunderclap. Isaac and Sam then became our Spring Thunderclaps.

Sam says, "So if our baby is born on my birthday, he will be a Spring Pig, right?"

I say, "A Spring Pig?"

Everyone hoots and Sam says, "No. Not a Spring Pig! A Spring Thunderclap."

Ruthie says, "I think it will be an Autumn Thunderclap."

A Spring Pig. A Spring Thunderclap. An Autumn Thunderclap. We just can't wait to find out!

Cute Quips.

Ruthie and I were driving home after dropping our boys off at school.

She said, "So when I am in first grade....."

I said, "Then you would be at school right now, just like the boys."

She said, "Then you would be home all day by yourself."

I said, "Yep!"

She said, "Soooooooo, you could take a nap, then you wouldn't be so cranky!"

Hmmmm....

Cute Quips.

I love following Isaac into his room while he builds with his Legos so I can talk to him. The best conversations happen when I go in and just lay on Sam's bed and ask him about his day. He will start with a simple answer like...good, bad, okay, dumb, I hate my teacher, I don't think I need to go to school anymore, I made a new friend, why do we have fingernails, why do I have to clean my room everyday. With his answer I start asking more specific questions and we usually have a really great conversation.

Yesterday I went in and asked about his day and then what he did at recess. He said he and some other kids played four square. His friend got bullied out of the game. Isaac was still in the game. He said he walked out of the game (there was a line of other kids wanting to get in to the game, so I didn't push the "don't walk out of a game in the middle of it" discussion)so he could go help his friend.

Here is what he said...
"So he walked out into the field and when I got to him he was crying a little. So I told him, there are some good games and there are some bad games. You just have to choose the good games."

His friend said he was a really good friend to come and talk to him and cheer him up.

I love the advice Isaac gave his friend. Yes, there are good games and bad games. Good friends and bad friends. Good choices and bad choices. I love that he knows this and will advise his friend to choose the good ones!

My heart is full.

Cute Quips.

I used to wear pearls a lot. Back when I was youthful and single. I've kept some strings through the years. Ruthie started to go through my jewelry box and found them. They are my wedding pearls and pearls from Daniel's parents when they got home from Vietnam. Ruthie asked if she could wear them. She was dripping with giddiness as I put them all on her.
Then she said it.

"Mom, this is what stylish people wear!"

I guess I used to be stylish.

She cracks me up!

And I'm so not stylish anymore.
