And The Winner Is...

ISAAC! And a whole lotta other kids.  Remember way back when Isaac chose to do his science fair project all on his own and only had me glue the stuff on his board after he laid it all out?  He went to the school science fair. Then he went to the district science fair.  Then!  Then!  He got the invitation to come to the award ceremony.  Yahoo!! So here we were tonight.

Isaac receiving his certificate.  He was 3rd place, along with many others, in the Physics and Math category.

Smiling for a pic with the superintendent.  Each category had several 2nd and 3rd place winners and one 1st place winner.  There were also many other honors  given to many of the kids.
P1050725
Isaac was squinty.  He was slightly disappointed that he didn't get a special honor.  That would have meant cash or a prize of some sort.  But he was happy to have been able to participate AND get 3rd place.
P1050729
Ahh. Squint be gone!  He's just so amazingly awesome!  We are so proud of Isaac and his amazing science fair project entitled "Affects of a HOP switch on an air soft gun".

My Unhealthy Relationship.

It's been going on for so long.  I have become numb to it over the years.  I look the other way.  I cover it up.  Sometimes I do let it just show.  I'm not proud.  Maybe I need help.  But I think I have learned to just live with it.  And even enjoy it a little.  I wonder if I need help.  In fact, it may seem that I'm asking for help because I'm blogging about it.  I'm not.  Not intentionally anyway.  I just thought I should be honest.  With myself.  With all of you.  So here it is.  My unhealthy relationship with...

Dust.
P1050705
It's everywhere.  I have sent it on its way on so many mornings.  I've tried afternoons.  Heck!  I even brought my kids into the relationship.  But to no avail.  It always comes back.  With a vengeance even.
P1050708
It's just no use.  It keeps coming back and I keep letting it lie.  I don't dust as much as I used to.  It's an impossible relationship to break.  It's come to this.  Dust is here and I am letting it stay.
P1050709
Don't try to help me.  I will be ok.  I'm sure of it.  I am even allowing my children to become immune to its powers.  We will all go on with our lives while the dust just sits there.  Because even if I dusted with the best of the products on the market, it will just be back in a day or two.  I have met my match.
Dust.
Just let it be.

A Tour.

I was down painting Sam's room this morning and realized I haven't done an update on the basement in a while.  So here it is...

When you first get down there and turn the corner, this is what you see.  I put a beige on the wall. The table and chairs is from when my family came for dinner last Sunday.
P1050693
Then you walk into the main family room area.  I was calling this color cinnamon.  But it's really more a cinnamon-y terra cotta color.  I like it.  The door to outside is also this color.  You may notice the air mattress on the floor.  The boys have taken to sleeping down there on the weekend.
P1050695
Then you go to the hallway.  It's that same beige.
P1050697
Let's turn left to the bathroom.  Daniel has gotten the floor and wall tile up.  Isn't it nice?  He's working on the tub tile now.  Then we'll get grout and then we'll buy a vanity and paint and get the water hooked up!
P1050698
Then let's go across the hall to the spare room.  I painted it a color I thought would be neutral and nice.  I hate it.  I absolutely hate it.  I made some curtains that I love.  We began moving items from the storage unit back in.  This is our storage room.  Ugly color that it is.
P1050700
Then across the hall again to Isaac's room.  Still no paint.  But some toys and stuff.  I will paint his room next.  Think green.
P1050701
And lastly, down the hall to Sam's room.  I painted as much as I could go with the paint I poured into the paint pan.  I got pretty far.  Saturday I'll finish and his room will be done.  But Wait!
P1050702
He has one small wall that sticks out.  He wanted it dark blue with some white circles on it.  So it's dark blue and then the circles will go up last.
P1050703
Aahhh.  I feel much better now that that's done.

On another note.  Did you watch Downton Abbey Sunday?  Are you as apathetic now about the whole shebang as I am?  Highly disappointing.  At least he left the estate in good shape and a male heir.  Die scum.  Go on to Broadway and leave Mary all alone to raise the child and not have a soul in the world know what a nice woman she really is.

Aaahhh.  Much much better.

A Few Days In Our Life.

I've longed for grass for months now.  At Abbie's Tea Party this year my mom had us plant wheat and grow...  Ta Da!  Wheat Grass!  I am officially happy to have wheat grass.  It's the greenest thing in my life!
P1050690
My birthday was last week.  Did you hear?  I would have just missed it entirely except that all the people at Blue and Gold sang to me.  Daniel sent me these beauties.  He loves me.
P1050687
Sunday was Chinese New Year.  We went to dinner with our friends Kim and Jon and their girls on Saturday night.  Sunday we had all my family over to celebrate with lots of food and Chinese fun.
P1050683
Isn't this a gorgeous orange?  I gave my family oranges to signify sweetness and completeness in this the year of the snake.
P1050686
Monday Isaac was in the district science fair up at Weber State.  I snapped this at 6:30 that morning.  This is his board.  I guess we only know how he did by whether or not we get an invite to the award ceremony.  When Isaac got there he texted me this.. "breathtaking!".  He is now planning on attending Weber State.

So there you have it.  Our world this past week.  Almost like a day in the life.  Almost.  Maybe...

A Thought For Thursday.

We are all Heavenly Father's children, and we are all brothers and sisters, but it still doesn't mean you're related to Elvis Presley.

Sam came home from school listing all the people he is related to. The most unlikely relation was Elvis.  I actually said "Elvis who?" to which Sam  said "THE Elvis".  k.

Happy Birthday To Me.

So here it is.  My day.  Today...

6:30-8:15 Get kids fed, dressed and ready to go. Blog. Eat breakfast.
8:30 Get kids to school, get home, take shower and do hair.  No make up.  It's lash day.
9:30 Marsha the eyebrow lady comes to set up.
10:00 Eyebrow/lash appointments begin.  Yay.
12:00 May be done with eyebrows.  But we may go to 12:30.  For Barb. Put make up on. Trust me.
1:00 Get to church to set up tables and chairs and decorate for Blue and Gold tonight.
2:00 Leave church and run home to gather Chinese New Year stuff. Head to school.
2:30 Be in Sam's class ready for Chinese New Year presentation. Give presentation.
3:15 Grab kids from school and race home. But slowly and safely.
3:40 Be back at school for PTA meeting.  Take notes at meeting.
5:00 Head home and make sure some kind of homework is being done. Change into lovely yellow uniform
5:30 Be at church to get food ready for Blue and Gold.
6:30 Blue and Gold Banquet.  Will it be our last?  Hoping to know what the BSA vote is, yet it may not happen until Wednesday. When it's all said and done, clean the place up.
8:00 Pick up on homework while Daniel goes to his High Council meeting.  Send kids to bed.
Eventually Go to bed, exhausted, depleted.  Oh and go to the bathroom.  Haven't done that yet.

I will just have to wait until next year to celebrate my birthday.
