A Pain In My Nose.

I apparently have allergies. I don't know to what. It's whatever is most prominent right now. I'm too lazy to find out. I was out in the garden the other night with Daniel and by the time we got in the house I was sneezing by brain cells away. Seriously. So I took a little pill meant to help with that kind of stuff. I still sneezed. And it's a 24 hour pill. So I had to suffer all day yesterday as I sneezed incessantly all day!!! Did I say all day twice? Yes. I did. It was a long and sneezy day.
So these are my friends lately...
My problem lies, not in the fact that I sneeze all day, but that I have to cross my legs every time I sneeze. You know. There's the whole pee your pants thing when you have babies and then get old. So, needless to say, I walk around with my legs crossed. All day. And still have to run to the bathroom quickly! And it's oh so cute, too. Daniel just laughs. And Ruthie has asked several times why I need to stand like that when I sneeze. Oh, just you wait my darling girl.
Does anyone know what's out there right now? Tell it to go away.
Please!

The Quote Quota.

Okay. I know I have put this thing off for quite some time. And then I forgot about it. Then I just (seriously Just) remembered it. The quote thingy a couple of weeks ago. Are you dying to know what the quotes were from? Or did you forget too?

Yeah, well. Here are the answers...

"Stat! Stat means now!" The Office

"Your pits are entirely tolerable." Jimmy Neutron

"And whoever said that orange was the new pink was seriously disturbed." Legally Blond

"Red, yellow and blue. Each one has a message for you and me. Each is a symbol true." Primary Colors song from the Children's Song Book

Jen, Katie and Laurie got one or 2 of them. I already rewarded Katie and Laurie. Jen, we ate your reward. Sorry. I will be swinging by one day this week with a new reward.

Make A Meal Monday.

Happy Monday to you all. It's not quite 10am and I'm getting Make A Meal on. I'm pretty proud of myself. Here's what I'm doing today. I'm offering a twofer. Is that how you spell it? I don't know. But the point is, I'm going to give you two recipes/meals today. They are small and easy, yet taste yummalicious!

Chicken Salad Sandwich
Cook and shred chicken breasts. Chop a couple stalks of celery and a few green onions. Put it all in a big bowl and add enough mayo to make it good. Add some salt to taste. Then put it on a croissant. That's the only way to eat this salad. On a croissant.
It's so good you might even put it on bread when you run out of croissants! Simple. Elegant. Delicious. Perfect for an afternoon lunch with friends.

Hash Browns
When you have long rows of potato plants, you have to get creative. This is something my dad made all the time when we were kids. Grab some potatoes. Shred them on a cheese grater. Put them in the microwave for a couple of minutes. Melt butter on a skillet or in a non stick pan. Set the potatoes on the butter and let them sizzle away until they are golden and as crisp as you like.
We made some this morning with some eggs and Costco tortillas for burritos, along with honeydew from the garden. I would have a picture of the gloriousness, but alas, I didn't get one until all the burritos were gone, all the honeydew was gone and all the hashbrowns were gone. Then I found Ruthie's plate after she had abandoned what she couldn't fit in her belly.
Thank you Ruthie, for not finishing your seconds so mom could get a picture!
Enjoy your Labor Day and may all your labors be fruitful!

A Day In The Life.

Monday...My good friend Amie asked me to shop and decorate a bedroom in her house for her mom, who was moving in. I spent Monday morning shopping and afternoon setting up. This is the spot of beauty. The rest of the room looked good too. But this was my fav!
Ruthie also started Kindergarten and made me a free woman for 3 1/2 hours a day!
Tuesday...New sheets. We order our sheets on line and have to get extra deep pockets for our mattress. These are chocolate 1000 thread count sheets. Yes, luxurious! One more reason to go to bed at night!
Wednesday...With a little time to myself each afternoon I made sure I got some Rocky Road ice cream from the Schwans guy. I have been putting milk in my ice cream since I started babysitting a particular family when I was 11. They got me hooked!
Thursday...Leanne and Mila came to visit and she gave me bottles. I now need a baby to feed with them. This was also the day the garage spring broke...
Friday...Which leads me to this. My front door. I think it's inviting, but I really prefer going in through my filthy garage door. I also like the privacy of taking my McDonald's lunch in through the garage so the whole neighborhood doesn't see my lunch habits. We also realized when we got home late Saturday night that moths like to hang out by our porch light and like to fly in our faces when we are trying to quickly unlock the front door!
Saturday...Meme's 80th birthday celebration. Meme is my grandma, but we've never called her grandma. We had dinner and cake and I won a prize with 2 of my sisters for knowing the most about her. The picture is dark. I know. I keep hoping it will spur My Love into investing in a better camera. So I won't apologize!
Sunday...Today we went to a nephew's baby blessing. I didn't get any pictures. So I thought I'd put this on to get your mouths watering for Make a Meal tomorrow.
Hope your week was splendid!

What Do You Do When The Garage Door Breaks?

And school starts in less than 10 minutes? And your hubby is an hour away and can't come fix it? And your only vehicle is trapped inside? And your kids are teary eyed from fear? Well, here's what I did. After my kids were scared out of their skin because the spring broke, Loudly!, and then started making noise that could rival a rocket launch, I ran my boys out the door to RUN to school. Here's the seemingly harmless contraption...
Doesn't look too bad until you look at the ginormous spring. What ginormous spring you ask?
That ginormous spring! It had Isaac and Ruthie running in the house screaming, and poor Sam, who was already in the van, hunched down with tears in his eyes, asking, "Is it over?"
As I ran down the street in my flip flops, trying to catch my boys to make sure they were okay, I really tried to hide the tears coming down my face as many people passed and waved. Hello!!

As I yelled down the street to my boys to get to school as fast as they can and to just walk home, my gallant neighbor rode up in his big red truck. He got my boys, drove them to school and then came back to my house and lifted the ginormously heavy garage door and held it there so I could get my van out.

And yes, I was crying!
I thought it would be a good time to release toxins from my body!

Then I called the school to have them check on my boys to make sure they were okay. I cried again. The lady said, "What Happened??" I began to explain that the garage door broke and then I felt a little dumb to have to explain something seemingly trivial while sobbing on the phone. At least someone should have gotten hurt or died or something. Just kidding!

Thank you, Amie and Jeff, for saving me!

My boys were fine.
We all went to get a donut and soda after school. We needed some serious therapy.

We need a new garage door opener. And possibly a new garage door. Isn't 10 years the limit for stuff like that? And I also need new blinds on one of my windows. It won't open. And in my state, I need as much sunshine as possible.

And a diet pepper! And a donut.

Happy.

I went to Costco on Saturday for TP. Meaning I got Tp, chicken nuggets, bathroom cups, string cheese, lunch chips and roasts. And tortillas. I'm so happy. I just made some tortillas for my lunch. Wait! It's only 10:20 am. It's a snack. Yummy. They make me happy. So I thought I would blog about how happy I am. I'm happy.

But there are some other things that make me happy. And some things that are just weird. And some things that gross me out. So since I have your attention, I thought I'd share some of those things with you.

  • Costco tortillas make me happy.
  • N*ked taco night makes me happy.
  • I really hate that french fries are fattening. If they weren't, I'd be more happy.
  • I got diet Mt Dew yesterday and thought it would make me happy. It didn't. It just made me think about the stomach flu. Gross.
  • There are some people who shouldn't be on HDTV. It's just weird.
  • I think people who pay to have acrylic toe nails put on are weird. Really weird. I mean, how do you wear closed toed shoes with claws? I just don't get it. It's weird.
  • I have naturally curly hair. It looks like a bad perm sometimes. I'm happy when I have a good curly hair day. I wish I could be happy more often!
  • The potatoes from my last Make A Meal make me really happy. They also make Ruthie really happy.
  • I always think it's weird when people ask if I have Diabetes "really bad". You mean like when you have a crush on someone really bad? Or you have the stomach flu really bad? It doesn't work like that. Some things just make me laugh. Not happy. Just laugh.
  • Rocky Road ice cream makes me happy.
  • My family is weird.
  • My family makes me the happiest.

So there you go. I can't think of anything else right now. I need to go make me another tortilla. They make me happy!

Have a happy day!

I know, I know. It's Tuesday and I am just now doing make a meal. I had a very busy day yesterday. At least I got the first day of school for Ruthie girl. Here's a make a meal you're gonna love! Seriously! Love!
Got Potatoes?
Well, if you do, you can make this...
Scalloped Potatoes
I got the recipe from my sister in law, Jennifer. It's to die for!

Mmmm...
You need:
Potatoes, sliced thinly and placed in a 9x13 baking dish.
8 tsp or cubes of chicken base or bouillon, sprinkled over potatoes.
1 pint of whipping cream poured over the whole shebang.
Put in the oven at 350 for about an hour or until the potatoes are cooked.
You won't be disappointed!
Believe me!
You will love this.
I am making it again tonight.

Yummy!
